For the 2012 racing season, Aston Martin will unveil its new Vantage GT3 race car joining the current line-up alongside Vantage GT2, GT4, DBR9 GT1, and AMR-One LMP1. It replaces the DBRS9 which was launched in 2006 at Le Mans. It will boast a lightweight 6.0 liter V12 engine modeled after the V12 Vantage road car that will be able to deliver 600 HP and a peak torque of 516 lb ft.

It will also be equipped with a race semi-automatic paddle shift Xtrac gearbox and the latest race-developed ABS and traction control systems. The company’s officials explain that the new car was created to combine six years of experience in the GT3 racing category with the latest race technology to continue to remain successful. The first car is reported to be completed by July this year which will then undergo an extensive test and development program for the rest of the year. At the start of the 2012 season, the company plans to deliver 10 customer cars.
