Adding luscious flavors to this winter, the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show 2011 is around the corner, starting this November 30th and set to run till December 11th. To be certainly be filled with models from Japanese automakers, the show looks set to bring in some green ones.

With most of the manufacturers lining up models in the hybrid segment, we have our focus on Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), as they have too have a green concept for the exhibit. Their ‘JUMP 2013 mid term business plan’ has focused on models aimed at the ever emerging markets. Among the 15 vehicles planned for their exhibit, the carmaker will drive in the Mitsubishi Mirage production version and the Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV II.

Obviously both these models have a renowned heritage. The Mirage Lineage (started in 1978) had the most successful of car line ups, and they are now bringing back the name with the new 1.0 liter three cylinder MIVEC-engine five door hatch back.

And with the Japanese version, they seem to have done some excruciating job targeting the 30 km per liter mileage. They have done that through weight reduction, improvements in transmission (the model has GO (AS&G) mated to a CVT transmission), tires and brakes and an aerodynamic body for less air resistance, all with Mirage’s quality in handling, fuel efficiency and the less emission. The Mirage will launch first in the Thai market in March 2012.

Taking about the concept, PX-MiEV II, Mitsubishi had a vision to build an EV that is supposed to be suited for all situation and not being a city car. With the Mitsubishi PX-MiEV II, they have fused in their current EV technology (we saw that in the i-MEV), with their gasoline engine, eventually making an SUV vehicle capable of providing 800 km (496 miles).

The current concept, PX-MiEV, has the Super-All Wheel Control drive system driven by two 80 bhp 60-kilo watt electric motors and the 94 bhp MIVEC four cylinder engine, thus making the machine equivalent to a 3.0 liter v6 engine packed one.
